John W. Ross

 

John was born in Shaunavon Saskatchewan. In 1940 he joined the New Brunswick Rangers in St. John N.B . After 2 years of training in the Maritimes he was transferred to Goose Bay Labrador to guard against German invasion. In 1942 he volunteered for the 1st Canadian  Parachute Battalion, he joined the battalion just before it left for England. The battalion trained in Ringway England, until the D-Day invasion. 

After the war in Europe was over, he chose to leave the army and returned to Canada.
