A Canadian Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends to get together and have a large meal and give  thanks for all that they have been given. Often grandparents and relatives  will come to visit because it is a long weekend. Thanksgiving is celebrated the second Monday of October. Long ago, before the first Europeans arrived in North America, the farmers in Europe held celebrations at harvest time. To give thanks for their good fortune and the abundance of food, the farm workers filled a curved goat's horn with fruit and grain. This symbol was called a cornucopia or horn of plenty. When they came to Canada they brought this tradition with them.
On Thanksgiving it is traditional for us to eat turkey. Other things
that are part of the Thanksgiving menu are stuffing, cranberry   sauce, potatoes and other foods that help make this holiday a great time.
We invite you to explore and enjoy a delicious turkey treat!
